Power Sources

The DewBusterâ„¢ Controller may be operated on a 12V Battery or a 13.8VDC Power Supply. Click HERE for information on selecting a battery. If you already have a battery you can plug the charger in while using the battery to power the telescope (use a normal charge rate, do not "Fast Charge" while operating off the battery) thereby using the battery as an Un-interruptable Power Supply. If you are purchasing a power supply you want a 13.8VDC Power Supply because that is the voltage of a 12V battery when fully charged. When selecting a Power Supply, get one that is rated for at least twice the amount of current that you heaters and other devices will use (see heater manufacturer's web site for the Amp rating of each heater and add them together). One source that I have found for good reliable power supplies at very reasonable prices is BuyReliant. Here are several models of interest:

PS15BuyReliant      Amazon13.8VDC, 10 Amp continuous current, has Cigarette Socket plug, Banana Jacks, and Ring Terminal connections. This is a good choice for medium to large telescopes including 14" SCT's.
PS9BuyReliant      Amazon13.8VDC, 5 Amp continuous current, has Cigarette Socket plug, Banana Jacks, and Ring Terminal connections. Has smaller case than PS15 so more convenient if space is tight. Best used on small to medium telescopes (up to 8" SCT's).

If you don't need a cigarette socket and want to save $ or if you want a rack mount power supply then check these out. I do not recommend the adjustable voltage models because if accidentally turned up too high they could damage your equipment, stick to the 13.8V models. Heaters

You may build your own heaters using these instructions: Building Home-made Heater Strips

Or you may use any commercial heater strip which runs on 12V and has an RCA plug. Here are a few sources:
